Dr. Hyung Jin Bae is a board-certified periodontist and dental implant surgeon who focuses on helping patients protect and rebuild the health of their gums and supporting bone. He works closely with Dr. Bo Ah Kim and our general dentistry team at La Jolla Dental Wellness Center to address conditions, such as gum disease, gum recession, and tooth loss, with advanced periodontal and implant treatments. Combining precision care with a clear, friendly approach, his goal is to restore strong foundations for our patients' teeth to help them maintain long-lasting smiles.
Dr. Bae completed his dental education at Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania before continuing with advanced postdoctoral training at Harvard University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a distinction that reflects the highest level of certification in the specialty. Dr. Bae is also a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry and has extensive experience using laser technology to treat gum disease and support healing after periodontal procedures.
Dr. Bae's work focuses on periodontics and dental implant surgery, with an emphasis on techniques that support healing and minimize surgical trauma. His specialties include laser gum therapy using the LANAP® protocol, dental implant placement, treatment for gum recession, including the Pinhole® gum rejuvenation technique, and regenerative procedures that help restore lost bone and tissue. He frequently incorporates advanced biologic therapies, such as platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), to support healing after procedures. By working alongside the rest of the team at La Jolla Dental Wellness Center, he helps ensure patients receive coordinated care that supports both the health and appearance of their smiles.
