As the owner of La Jolla Dental Wellness Center, Dr. Bo Ah Kim leads our practice with a focus on thoughtful, patient-focused care. Dr. Kim believes dentistry should be both precise and personal, helping patients understand their options while creating treatment plans that reflect their individual goals and long-term health. With an emphasis on clear communication and a detail-oriented approach, she partners with patients to ensure they feel confident and informed at each step of their care.
When she's not with patients, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She stays active through hiking, cycling, and surfing, and those interests reflect the balance and focus she values in everyday life. The same sense of energy and dedication carries into the way she approaches patient care.
Dr. Kim studied biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University in 2007. Her training there emphasized comprehensive care, preparing her to diagnose complex concerns and develop treatment plans aimed at addressing immediate needs while restoring patients' long-term oral health. That combination of scientific background and clinical experience continues to shape the thoughtful, thorough way she approaches dentistry today.
Dr. Kim provides a wide range of general and restorative dental care, with particular focus on full-mouth reconstruction and TMJ therapy. She often works with patients who have several concerns at once and need a clear plan to restore comfort, function, and appearance. Working together with Dr. Hyung Jin Bae to provide specialized periodontal care, she's able to coordinate treatment when needed, allowing patients throughout La Jolla, CA to receive comprehensive dental care in one place.

I have known Dr. Bae and Dr. Kim for a long time. Their skill set and chair side manner, just superb. Their down to earth nature is very welcoming and make them very approachable. I recommend these doctors without any hesitation.
As someone who has always struggled with anxiety at the dentist, the staff here has always put me at ease taking care of my teeth. Dr. Kim is very thorough and explains what she is doing step by step to ensure the integrity of my teeth, rather than proposing the most invasive procedure from the get-go. Crystal, the hygienist, is very meticulous during my cleanings and always offers good dental advice. Cathy, at the front desk, is extremely helpful dealing with insurance, very responsive when it comes to scheduling, and always greets you with her warm presence and a smile. I cannot recommend this dental office enough!! Another perk is that there is plenty of parking and they validate your parking ticket for you!
