FAQ
How long to wait to eat after teeth cleaning?
Wait to eat for 30 minutes to an hour after your teeth cleaning—particularly if fluoride treatment was part of your visit. This short window gives the fluoride enough time to bond effectively with your enamel and lets your teeth begin the re-mineralization process after the cleaning.
What types of dental insurance do you accept?
La Jolla Dental Wellness works with any dental insurance, except Medicare, Medi-Cal, or HMO plans. We will file insurance claims for our patients for direct reimbursement to you. We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service dental office. We require full payment at the start of treatment and offer 0% financing and low monthly payments, if needed.
How often should I visit the dentist?
Visit the dentist every six months for a checkup and teeth cleaning. If you suffer from gum disease (periodontal disease) we recommend you visit the dentist every three-to-four months.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Call La Jolla Dental Wellness immediately. We reserve time for dental emergency cases like severe toothaches, broken teeth, or knocked-out teeth. If you call during off-hours, simply leave us a message or text us, and we will contact you as soon as we can!
Why do my gums bleed when I floss?
Gums bleeding after flossing or brushing can be a sign of gum inflammation or early gum disease. At La Jolla Dental Wellness, we recommend a professional evaluation to catch gum disease in the early stages, called gingivitis, which can be reversed with prompt treatment!
